Initially working for Pershore Youth Trust, EPD examined a local weir as an option for a whitewater course. Though promising, land and demands on the water from hydro power eventually curtailed the possibilities of a scheme.
However, further investigations identified a weir upstream of Pershore known as Wyre Piddle. With it’s limited head, the weir was of no interest to the hydro power developers but would make an idea drop for a whitewater channel.
Desgin work was undertaken to produce a very promising low head whitewater channel through an island in the river at the weir site.
